Note that you will need a day-use vehicle permit (DVP) in order to park at one of the parking lots for the day if you are planning on doing a day-trip. The DVP can be reserved in advance but you can also buy pay-and-display parking passes when you are on site with the same reservation system below. Just note that you will not be guaranteed a spot with the pay-and-display option so it is in your best interest to go with the DVP option if you know which day you will be going to Sandbanks.

When is the Best Time to Visit Sandbanks Provincial Park?

There are two answers to this question, and it has to do with the time of day and time of year! The best time of the day to go would be first thing in the morning (before 10 am) or after the rush (after 6 pm) during the Summer months. If you are looking to take full advantage of the swimming it would be recommended to go later on in the Summer (i.e. August) to ensure the water is as warm as possible. If you can make a trip in September that would be even better, because the park is usually not as busy, it is still warm out, and the water is very warm!

Booking your Parking at Sandbanks Provincial Park

You can book your parking at Sandbanks Provincial Park up to 5 days in advance of the day you would like to go. Booking your parking is easy with Ontario Parks’ Online reservation system. Just make sure that you click the “Day Use” if you are planning a day trip to the Park.

At Fancie’s PEC your suite comes with a complimentary vehicle parking pass for Sandbanks that you can use during your stay (between April 1st and November 30th). During the peak season when the parking lots fill up, having the vehicle parking pass DOES NOT guarantee your access to the park. If you want to guarantee your parking spot you will have to reserve in advance using this informative video and having the pass number that we will give to you when you book with us. The same rules apply with the vehicle pass, you can only book up to 5 days in advance to ensure you get a spot.
